Xianyi CHEN, M.D. Graduated from Tongji University School of Medicine in 1982, and obtained M.S. and Ph.D. at Fudan University. He has worked in the Ministry of Health for a long time, serving as Director of the Bureau of Healthcare; appointed Deputy Director of the Bureau of Healthcare in November 1994, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Disease Prevention and Control in April 1997, Director of the Health Emergencies Response Office in February 2004, Director of the Bureau of Disease Prevention and Control in November 2009, Chairman and Party Committee Secretary of the People’s Medical Publishing House Co., Ltd. in May 2011. In December 2011, he was elected as the NPC member of the Chaoyang district of Beijing. He has been awarded the titles of Outstanding Communist Party Member, Outstanding Party Worker, Outstanding Civil Servant and Advanced Worker by the Ministry of Health many times, and has been awarded the Third-Class Merit, the title of Model of National Unity and Progress and various honorary certificates. He has served part-time as Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General and Director of several ministry-affiliated institutes and academic organizations and has been appointed as an honorary professor by Harbin Medical University and as a visiting professor by the West China School of Public Health.
